The Story Museum is an educational charity in England that plans to establish a museum of the same name in Oxford, to celebrate and promote children's literature.[1]
Writers and illustrators associated with the project include Michael Morpurgo, Philip Pullman, Jacqueline Wilson and Korky Paul.
Until premises are completed, the museum operates as a "virtual museum" through its website and outreach programmes in schools and communities.
In November 2009 it was announced that the museum would move to premises at Rochester House in Pembroke Street, following a gift of £2.5m from a private donor.[2]
A public campaign will be launched in 2010 to raise £11m needed to transform the building, with the aim of attracting up to 100,000 visitors a year. The team behind the project hopes that the Story Museum will be ready in time for Oxford's bid to become Unesco's World Book Capital in 2014.
